Written by Jim Laster, with original illustrations by Julie Best Erwin, The Birthday Gift that Beeped is an 8″ x11″, sturdy, hardbound book printed on a high-quality four-color process commerical press. The 60-page book tells the story of Joey and his family being saved from their burning home by Joey’s smoke alarm gift for his grandfather.

The colorful and exciting character is BEEPING BEN, a lovable and friendly smoke alarm that saves the day. BEEPING BEN’S quick action to smell smoke helps alert the family to get out of their burning home safely.

In addition to telling a great story that kids love, the book has a 14-page chapter of important Fire Safety Rules for the Entire Family that includes information about a firefighter’s job and equipment, common fire safety tips and a safety checklist for both children and parents.
